Light Sport Pilot

While a private pilot certificate requires a minimum of 35 or 40 hours of training time those requirements are much less for light sport pilots. If you dedicate 2-3 times per week for lessons, you can be finished in approximately 4 months. Our accelerated flight training course can be completed from scratch in as little as 21 days, or even in as little at 14 days!

Description

If you are an aviation enthusiast seeking your first pilot certificate, the sport pilot certificate provides one of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to fly for fun and recreation. Unlike ultralight pilots, sport pilots can carry a passenger and operate in certain types of controlled airspace, for example, but they may not fly at night and are limited to lighter and lowered-powered aircraft than those available to private pilots.

The basic FAA requirements to obtain a Private Pilot License are as follows:

  • Must be at least 17 years of age
  • Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language
  • A valid US Driver’s License
  • A minimum of 20 Hours Flight Time
  • 15 Hours Dual Airplane Instruction
  • 5 Hours Solo Flight Time
  • 2 Hours Cross Country Flight Time
  • 10 Takeoffs & Landings
  • One solo cross-country flight
  • 2.5 Hours Full Motion Simulator (Redbird FMX)
  • One-on-one Ground Training Instruction
  • Cessna Integrated TrainingKit
  • FAA Written Exam
  • FAA Check Ride

Our Light Sport plane is the N162HA – A Cessna Skycatcher.
